Dodging the Fiery Darts

Ephesians 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Has there ever been a time that you were so wrapped up in sin you wondered how you got so deep? Maybe you have an anger problem and it started with yelling at traffic because it’s harmless. You can yell in your vehicle and nobody will hear you so there’s no chance of confrontation. But soon you were yelling a your spouse and finally its snowballed to the effect of being an angry person all the time. You don’t know how you got so angry when you used to be a person that was easy to be around, go with the flow kinda guy.

I think Satan has a way of keeping us off our guard, then throwing small darts that are stealthy and hard to catch on the radar. Satan is a very patient being. He takes his time. That’s all he has. After some time he begins to throw darts continually and regardless if you see them or not, you don’t try to block them.

That’s why it is very important to stay diligent, and be sober-minded for when that roaring lion comes around ready to pounce and destroy whatever he can, you are able to see the attack. 1 Peter 5:8

Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit will cause you to be like Neo. Cause you can dodge the fiery darts. Your sensitive to see them coming. You don’t hesitate to move because you know they’re there. Your quick to obedience to the Holy Spirit’s nudging of “don’t say that”, “don’t go there”, “don’t do that”.

If we stay alert and continue to resist the temptations then the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
