- Word Of God Speak – Big Daddy Weave
We had a great day at Xtreme today. Guest speaker Clem Ferris brought the word. I always love to hear him speak; so candid and real plus getting to hear his missionary stories is just too cool. And it doesn’t hurt when he greets you in the morning with an Irish accent. That’ll brighten your day no matter what mood your in. (BTW, he’s not Irish. He just does a fine Irish accent.)
Beautiful One – We kinda do the Jeremy Camp version but I add some light distortion to it. I just think it’s a great song with a driving beat. Fun to play as well. I thought it would be real tough to get a bunch of Army dudes to sing about God’s beauty, but they do! And it’s too cool!
God You Reign – We brought this one in last month. Still teaching the church to sing it. They done a great job this morning singing out. I even heard Pastor singing it before service. Right on!
Praise The Name Of Jesus – I was informed this is a rather old song from the eighties. I had no idea, seriously. I had never heard it before until I heard Shane and Shane do a version of it. I fell in love with it. It’s just a simple song with great lyrics of praise.
I Stand Amazed – I remember actually singing the hymn version of this song when I was attending a Southern Baptist church years ago. I went to Passion 06 and Kristian Stanfill done his version and rocked the house, I fell in love with this song all over again. The song is great in itself but update the music and it’s even better.
Word Of God speak – We kinda do a mash-up of Mercy Me, Kutless, and Big Daddy Weave, so I guess we make this our own version. I don’t want to throw Heather under the bus on this one. She had very little time to practice the opening intro and when it came to worship she messed up the intro a little. But that’s ok. I told her God is made strong in our weakness so now it’s an ongoing joke that God was made real strong at that moment. Hey, I’ve made God a super hero with some of my screwups. We all do it. But I am so proud of her because she’s stepping out of her comfort zone and learning an instrument and getting better every day.
I was made aware after practice that the keyboard had been turned down before worship. During the intro to this song it was real low so I made sure that Ciera, our sound lady, learned a valuable lesson during that moment about mixing on the fly. So I think all in all, it was a real learning experience for us all. Good stuff.
I think it was a great day at church. Hung out with my church family, sang together, listened to some good word, learned a few things like when Audacity shut down and we thought we lost the sermon. We learned how to recover lost files. I can’t wait till next week. I’ll be spending some family time in St. Louis making family memories and Lydia Walker will be leading Xtreme in musical worship. They will be blessed. Go Cardinals and go away forecasted rain!!!!!!
